FAQ

WHAT IS FLOW SCREED?

Flow screed is a thin layer of material, typically consisting of cement or other binder, aggregates and water, used to create a smooth, even surface for application of all types of finished floor surfaces. Liquid flow screed is specifically designed to facilitate the efficient movement of heat in an underfloor heating system and is far superior to traditional dry cement screed for this purpose.

HOW MUCH DOES FLOW SCREED COST?

Typically the average job takes between 1-3 hours from start to finish so there are already considerable savings to be made on time and labour. You will only ever pay for the materials used and a basic service fee for laying the screed. Pay for what you use with no hidden costs. Advice and after care also come included in your quote

HOW LONG DOES FLOW SCREED TAKE TO DRY?

Our screed is ready to take foot traffic in as little as 24 hours. The natural drying time for liquid screed is typically 1mm per day but it is possible to force dry with the use of underfloor heating which will rapidly reduce the curing time. With the correct use of this method your screed will be ready for the application of your finished floor in just 1 week greatly speeding up the progress of your flooring project.

HOW TO LAY FLOW SCREED

Our screeds are delivered on-site ready-mixed. We use powerful, specially designed pumping equipment along with high pressure flexible hoses to pump the liquid flow screed from the street straight to the desired area. We use Hilti rotating lasers and small surveying tripods to acheive the most accurate results possible. The screed is then lightly tamped to leave a mirror like finish.

IS FLOW SCREED MESSY?

You would be forgiven for thinking that there is a lot of mess involved with liquid screed but we always make sure to leave the job cleaner than we find it. Of course some mess can’t be avoided but all of our lorries come equipped with pressure washers so you can rest assured we will leave your property clean and tidy. No mess no stress!

IS FLOW SCREED SUITABLE FOR MY PROJECT?

If you need a solid level surface and would like to skip the tedious, labour intensive stage of mixing dry screed then flow screed is for you. To put it simply, liquid flow screed is just a modern way of taking the hassle out of a difficult job.

WILL THE SCREED NEED TO BE SANDED AFTER LAYING?

There is no sanding required with our cement based flow screeds, the most common tripe we use. Gypsol however, has a light latence which in some cases will require light sanding. Call our team to discuss which flow screed best suits your needs.
